I’ve spent a lot of time staring into the endless void this weekend (the refrigerator). I went on a picnic and couldn’t decide what to bring as my contribution. A picnic pie would have been lovely, sandwiches would have been too classic, fresh bone eye steak aren’t very good unless they’ve been cooked. My mind could not settle on a dish, and then a lightbulb went off. ** BING ** My moment of inspiration had come: prosciutto and melon. A deliciously simple appetizer.
Out of all the dishes I’ve made thus far, I can’t think of one more simple than prosciutto and melon. It’s as easy to bake as a salad 🙂 not that I’ve ever done that… Yet…
Let’s get cracking!!!
Prosciutto and Melon
You’ll soon discover that this prosciutto and melon dish is truly as simple as I have said. In fact, you could probably prepare it in the time it takes you to read this!
To begin, you’ll need the two ingredients that have been mentioned many times already: prosciutto and melon! Specifically,
- 1 medium-sized melon (washed)
- 8-16 thin slices of prosciutto
Now the process is really simple. First, cut the melon in half and remove the seeds. Cut each half of the melon into four slices. If desired, remove the peel from the melon.
If you’re a decorator you’re in luck! Now we get to decorate each slice of melon with prosciutto and then spread the remaining slices of prosciutto across the serving plate in some fancy way.
And there you have it! One extremely simple treat that’s perfect for an appetizer, a picnic, or a tasty treat if you happen to have the dazzling array of ingredients! I hope you like it! I loved the dish. Honestly, my first time I thought it was a bit peculiar, but the second time I really enjoyed it! It’s a spectacular way to spice up the melon at your next picnic!
Cheers!
